While the snow has melted this week, we managed to enjoy an overnight stay in Tomintoul with a wonderful days skiing at the Lecht ski centre 2 weeks ago. Thumper turns out to be the perfect ski vehicle!

The Lecht is probably the farthest ski centre from us in Stirling, but they managed to get most of the runs open unlike the other centres. Our favourite, Glencoe Mountain Resort, didn't get any snow, but over in the Cairngorms there was plenty to go around. The roads were slightly treacherous but Thumper our blue land rover never slipped, we definitely appreciated the four wheel drive. Especially as we watched others get stuck and need a push just to leave the car park.

Large icicles dangling from a traditional stone building

We stayed the night in Tomintoul, a lovely little town, well worth a visit in the daytime to enjoy the shops. We spent our evening in a very friendly pub, in the Richmond Arms Hotel. Check out the icicles on the building across the street.

The Lecht proved to be an excellent place for learning, with lovely gentle slopes and no rocks or trees to run into. Our first day of skiing in Scotland with sunshine and blue skys all day!
